Tell us a bit about your book “CPAP Is Sexy.”

This book helps patients with obstructive sleep apnea get diagnosed and treated for this serious disorder. It is a disease in which a person’s throat repeatedly shuts off during sleep.

Untreated, it increases the risk of sexual dysfunction, stroke, heart attack, high blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm, diabetes, weight gain, drowsy driving, and early death.

The CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) is the preferred treatment recommended by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, but it can be difficult to get used to sleeping with CPAP.

This book explains why and how you should use your CPAP. It further explains how you can use sleep hygiene and the AEI Model of Supreme Life to get the most out of your sleep.

  • What are the benefits of CPAP?
  • What are my other options?
  • Which machine should I use?
  • Should I choose a mask or a cannula?
  • I suffer from claustrophobia, can I still use CPAP?
  • I am overly anxious about using CPAP, what should I do?
  • I sleep on my stomach, will that be a problem?
  • What should I do for dry mouth despite using the humidifier?
  • Should I buy a travel CPAP?
  • My skin gets irritated from the mask.
  • I get tangled up with the hose.
  • The air leaks in my eyes.
  • My nose gets plugged up.
  • I swallow air when I use CPAP.
  • I drool in my sleep. Should I use CPAP when napping?
  • Will the noise keep my spouse awake?
  • I still feel sleepy despite using CPAP.
  • What are the good sleep habits?
  • What should I do if I can’t get enough sleep on CPAP?

The book answers these questions and more to help patients get used to CPAP. The tips discussed in this book have helped my patients over last twenty-five years.

I am sure this book will help them wake up every morning with lasting energy, enthusiasm, vigor, and vitality. It will further help leverage alertness to maximize emotions and information using the revolutionary AEI Model of Supreme Alertness.

CPAP is Sexy is your third book. How does it feel?

I feel excited that the patients will get the guidance they need on their journey to sound sleep and an alert life. As an author, this is a rewarding feeling. I also feel a sense of relief that I can move on to my next project.

Why did you write this book?

It is a confusing journey for most patients. To reassure them, that the treatment does not have to be frustrating, I wrote this book. I want to pass my decades of experience for their benefits. I additionally want them to squeeze out the maximum amount of life from each waking moment.

What was the greatest challenge in writing this book?

The biggest challenge was to distill tons of information and present it in an easy to understand format.

What book are you planning to write next?

Karoshi is a well-described disease in Japan. It means – Death by Overwork. The studies have shown that the negative emotions associated with work, and not the work itself, that kills us prematurely. I want to apply the principles of KarmaYoga to turn this around so that we can achieve eternal health through ceaseless service. That book – Karoshi to Karma – is my next challenge.

Finally, what advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Write. And when not writing, think about writing.

Never doubt that your words do not matter. Your words change your brain. They modify minds around the world as soon as you write them. Civilizations prosper because of writers. Keep writing.
